Random : Poster

Last semester there were a lot of random projects– this being one of them. I wasn't too pleased with the poster this became, but the image is somewhat nice. I had fun making it at least.

Sneaks : Printmaking

Here's a few prints I've done recently:

16x16 2 color linoleum print on Japan paper

12x17 woodblock print

The linoleum prints haven't been returned to me yet, and the woodblock was a test print done earlier today. The registration on the "Milk & Honey" was tough. I'd say about 6 of the 10 came out close enough or spot on. Oh, and what made those even harder was not being able to use the press. Never will I want to look at a large plastic spoon again. Either that, or I just wont use the entire 12x12 block the next time I'm forced to use a spoon to press a print.

New Venture : Plush Making

This was my first attempt at making a plush toy. I made him during my last weekend in Kansas City as a baby shower gift for one of the designers in my department.

Thanks to Kayla and her mom for showing me how to use/lend me a sewing machine!

Sketchbook : Lettering Fun

I went to a lettering lunch yesterday with some of the hand lettering artists, and here's the result:

I was inspired by Mexican loteria cards. I'm actually taking a charms making class on Thursday at Hallmark's Rice Center, and the plan is to illustrate some of the cards before then to make them into pendants. I just keep getting craftier and craftier as the weeks go by.
OH, and sculpture post soon. She's missing hands, but once that's taken care of she'll be baked, painted, and photographed.

Sketchbook : New Pen Fun

At the start of my internship I met an amazing little Japanese brush pen. These are just some things I did while getting acquainted with it.

Crafts : Cell Phone Charms

Sometimes, when I'm not doing homework (or in this case, working), I make things like these little guys.

On a sidenote, I was totally awesome and left my digital camera in Texas, and didn't realize until I was already in Kansas City. This would explain the poor documentation.

Time Life : Sneak Peek

The only image in existence of my TimeLife redesign on Animal Behavior. Hand drawn/painted type (of course) printed on vellum so that you could see the ink treatment I did on book cloth (that wasn't really even book cloth). I'd go further into detail about the concept, but it doesn't really matter at this point w/o visuals. They'll be a long time coming...
