Hello 2014

Just a few drawings from then and now...

August 2013

October 2013 drawing of Stacey.

The last 2013 hair drawing gifted to Mary
(and one I wished I would've kept because it came out so nice).

Below are a selected few from this new year.

watercolor - roughly 4x6"

A recent favorite - about 8x10"

Last week's 5x5" drawing of Mayson.

I have not forgotten how to vector. The proof:

Created in mid-February. (I still don't like jelly.)

2013 Work + Sketchbook

This year I've been able to work on a few fun projects. As with a lot of projects though, some can't be shared. I was able to help out doing some non-profit work for the Kansas City Quills and redesign their logo and put a postcard together for an event earlier this year.

It isn't often that I get to do t-shirt designs, but Thunderbeard apparel provided me with a quirky opportunity back in May. Plus, it was my first real time drawing men's hair/facial hair.

In between freelance work, I've managed to get more personal work done. Unfortunately for my blog, Instagram is a much faster way of sharing these pieces (without having to worry about scanning and editing). I tend to post immediately after I finish, so check out my profile for a more up-to-date view of my creative happenings.

2012 Drawings

I spent a small portion of 2012 making things for friends, whether it be as birthday gifts or just fun/art trade. Otherwise, it was sketchbook time.

Sketchbook : Girls 2

Here are just a few things I've neglected to post in the past few months.
*posted in chronological order of creation

Last of 2011

First completed in the new year

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Back in August, I sat down and did a few experiments with pattern making. The floral at the top was done in acrylic paint in my sketchbook, the clouds were pencil drawn and colored in Photoshop, and the mountain pattern is a dissection and re-piecing of a landscape photo.

Sketchbook : Girls

These are just a few drawings I've done in the last few months.

early June

late June

I couldn't decide if I liked her with or without eyes. I drew them in anyway just because I was so excited to tackle those lashes. At first I didn't like it, but it's growing on me.

Closet Inventory : Completed

The project I started this summer if finally over. As much as I hate to stop, I need to for my own sanity. I got into this thing where I tried to recreate it as best as possible. So you'll spot some Mishka (sweater/dress), Betsey Johnson (tights/dresses/cardigan), Marc Jacobs (shoes), Uniqlo (dress), and Zara (everything). I have a problem with getting overly detailed...

Here are a few highlight outfits I got a little too pattern happy, or just generally liked wearing.

F21 blouse, PegLeg skirt, Sam Edelman shoes

F21 flannel, Rebel 8 shirt, KillCity jeans, Vans slip-ons

Sister's old thrifted sweater, F21 dress, Zara boots

Kimchi Blue hoodie, Free People dress, Gap tights, thrifted boots

Pins and Needles blouse, Silence & Noise trousers, Ann Demeulemeester wedge sandals

PS- I may post a single outfit periodically in the future if I really love it. There's no denying that I'll be creating new outfits later on.
