Side Project : Mail Me Art

Last year a friend sent me a link about an international art submission called Mail Me Art. I don't know where I found the time, but I pulled a painting out on a bubble mailer just before the postmark date. I got the email that they'd chosen me to be in the show/book last spring, and now I've officially been published.

Here's a scan from right before I mailed it:

See, graphic designers can paint too (if they want to).

Also, you can purchase the book here via Amazon.

Late : The End of Fall '08

My last project for 3-D Problem Solving was to create a pop-up card invitation for an existing museum exhibition– past or present. I thought about all the ones I had been to (and enjoyed), and the Met's blog.mode:addressing fashion exhibit got the OK.

These are just a few things that rounded out my Music Branding campaign for Hella:
1. Tees and a tote design / screen printed
2. Goodies / stickers and buttons
3. A fictional compilation CD of their stuff pre-vocals (Unfortunately the use of a clear CD did not lend itself well to the possibility of putting actual music on the disc, but it worked for the design.)

Hella Posters : The Real Deal

The first two are hypothetical shows playing in Austin for next year, and the last is just a band poster. I'd like to thank sketching and the wacom tablet for making it all possible.

Hella : Stop Motion Video

I don't want to think about how many hours I've spent drawing, scanning, and photoshopping only to have Josh show me how to get it together in AfterEffects in a matters of minutes. With that said, this is my stop motion animation for Music Branding featuring Hella's song "The D. Elkan".

Paper City : Ofrenda

Here, I present my paper city – otherwise known as an altar in my case. I tried to go with a concept that was already rooted in my interests, and this just happened to work out nicely. Over the past few years, Dia de los Muertos has gotten quite the attention from all around. I'm used to the holiday since it's tradition in the Southwest, but I feel like people don't know enough about it. My intention for this is to be used as a cultural education tool for children and adults alike.

My favorite part of the package is the instruction booklet aka Guia para los Recien Fallecidos.

I need to learn how to hold things straight, eh? Best of the shots though.

Best of Ringling : Food Package

Last Spring I was one of four sophomores to be admitted into the Best of Ringling show. After this semester's Hard drive Crash '08, this is all that's left of said entry— well, besides the physical pineapples chillin' on the armoire in the living room. Not the point at all.
